I'm a 15-year-old girl from Seattle, Washington, U.S. and today I was looking up pages in a search for a school project when a ran into this website. I only briefly skimmed the "Open Letter to America from a Canadian" that was written two years ago. I could tell, however, by simply skimming it that Mr. McDougall was well aware of all the corruption that has been going on inside of America for decades and decades. I had no doubt in my mind that Mr. McDougall had the facts straight about all the government cover-ups and scandals that have occurred inside this country. There was only one thing that distressed me. It did not hurt me when he verbally attacked the U.S. government, but it really hurt when he attacked the citizens of America. Yes, given many of us are clueless of what goes on inside our own country, but is it really our fault? Our eyes have been covered with wool for so long that we don't know who to believe. I know that some of us have been brainwashed into thinking so patriotically of ourselves that we eventually create biases towards other countries, but we've been isolated from the views of other countries by our government so that we don't even notice. A common people can never rise up against a government that they're not even aware is corrupting them and feeding them false information. Other than this I felt as if this letter was very valid and Mr. McDougall has the right to show his anger towards a country he knows is corrupt.
