State Elections Boards Seeks Volunteers to Help Process Unprecedented Number of Voter Applications

The Maryland voter registration deadline is October 14.

The State Board of Elections office is receiving an unprecedented number of voter registration applications through the mail. State Election Director Linda Lamone has requested the help of League of Women Voters volunteers who can open voter registration applications received in the mail and sort the applications by jurisdiction so they can be forwarded/delivered to the correct county Local Board of Elections.

The Board receives mail twice daily, usually between 9:30-10:00 am and 12:30-1:00 pm. The job could be handled by two volunteers at each shift. Volunteers from the League of Women Voters are needed each day next week, and perhaps the following week as well. Voter registration deadline is October 14th.

Anyone affiliated with the League of Women Voters who is available to support this volunteer effort at the State Board of Election office, located at 151 West Street, Suite 200, Annapolis, Maryland 21401 is asked to call Mary Wagner, Director, Voter Registration Division, Maryland SBE, at 410-269-2850.
