Solemn 9-11 Events Planned

Women in Black‚Baltimore, part of an international network for peace, will, on September 11, 2002 from 4 to 6 p.m., create a Peace Path that will stretch 12 miles along Charles Street from the Inner Harbor to the Beltway. (Note that the Charles Street bridge over the JFX is expected to be reopened to traffic after two years of construction).

Several people on each block will be holding peace signs in many languages. Churches, temples, mosques, student groups, college peace programs, non-profits, and community centers are taking part in this silent event.

"We hope you will share this time thinking of peace," say organizers on the group's website (see below). "Please bring signs that express the positive powers of peace to heal and rejuvenate. As we remember those who we have lost, let us all stand in the dignity of a common goal—a world without violence and bloodshed."

Peace, Hon flyers are available electronically via the website, or call 410-467-9112.

A 2002 Harvest Revival in the Park will be held from Sunday, September 8 through Friday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. nightly at Druid Hill Park at Auchentoroly Terrace.

"We will transcend all barriers as we commemorate September 11th in an attempt to bring together all denominations, races, cultures and economic backgrounds," say the organizers from St. Martin Church of Christ, Inc., 2118 Madison Ave. The theme will be "Moving from Healing to Wholeness." Elder Kevin Daniels, Pastor, will preside.

For more information, call 410-547-1118.
