Between August 1 and 15, the Hair Cuttery will be giving free haircuts to underprivileged children across the country. For each purchased child's cut (up to age 18), the salon will provide one free haircut. Local Hair Cuttery outlets are taking part.

Become a Volunteer Maryland Coordinator and help to improve your community. Duties include tutoring at-risk youth and participating in beautification projects. This program is a year-long commitment, beginning August 12. Extensive training, living allowance, and health care provided. Both full- and part-time positions available. The Black Mental Health Alliance for Education and Consultation, Inc., is providing free evening classes for those who want to stop smoking. A new session begins every six weeks in locations throughout the city. Call 410-338-2642 to register.

The Humane Society of Baltimore County seeks volunteers to help with a variety of duties. An orientation session will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 7-9 pm. Must be eighteen or older. 1601 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown. Call 410-833-2387 for more information.

The Parkville Recreation Council is looking to assemble a football league of 7th and 8th grade students who weigh more than 145 pounds. Pikesville Soccer is offering a coed clinic for children ages 5 and 6, as well as individual boys' and girls' league for ages 7 through 14. September-November season, with Saturday games.
