COMMENTARY:

My Shame As American Public Sleeps

by Paul J. Balles

I'm ashamed of my country!

Don't get me wrong. My shame has nothing to do with the superb US Constitution, our brilliant founding fathers, the magnificent Bill of Rights, or with the few fine Americans with enough sense and courage to stand up for what's right.

The founders, Constitution and Bill of Rights have been things that I have loved and have made me proud to be an American. They have also been the things that have been swept under the carpet by those who would desecrate the country at its very roots. Those superb sources of American pride have also been tread upon like dirt by the new masters of state who have stolen our greatness and replaced it with Texas trash, corporate malfeasance, fiscal irresponsibility, fake terrorism and scandalous abuse of power.

Consider:

  • A president steals an election and nobody does anything about it.
  • The un-elected president uses a terrorist act as a pretext to illegally invade and occupy two countries, and nobody does anything about it.
  • An illegitimate administration captures citizens of other countries during an invasion of training camps set up by America to fight Russia, locks them away without formal charges in Cuba, and nobody does anything about it.

  • Six Arabs are arrested in Pennsylvania simply for being Arabs, forced to plead guilty or face arrest and transfer to Cuba forever if they don’t confess, and nobody does anything about it.
  • Much of what actually happened on 9/11 and the aftermath have raised serious questions in alternative media, which the illegal administration and establishment media simply ignore, and nobody does anything about it.
  • No weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq, though that was the pretext for invading Iraq, and all but a few ignore it.
  • Israel collects billions of dollars of American taxpayer's money, blows up an American naval vessel and sells US-provided aircraft to China, and all but a few ignore it.
  • Iraq's occupation has resulted in deaths and fodder for increased terrorism, yet all but a few ignore it.
  • A leading Israeli journalist exposes Sharon’s gangsterism in Israel and his purposeful defeat of any road map to peace, yet all but a few ignore it.
  • A fake Patriot Act allows the Justice Department to violate the most basic citizens’ rights, yet all but a few ignore it.
  • Voting machines and computers have obviously been tampered with in the US, calling into question many elections, and the American public sleeps.
  • Palestinian children have been blown to bits for throwing stones at American-made tanks, and the American public sleeps.
  • The Israeli army decimates entire Palestinian villages, and the US administration rails on about Palestinians failing to protect Israel from terrorists, and the American public sleeps.
  • The Israeli Mossad has been exposed for its underworld plots and intelligence tampering and plants, and the American public sleeps.
  • The fake president and Congress enact a tax cut that favours only the wealthy, and the American public sleeps.
With a fraudulent administration; hopeless congress and corrupt courts; an irresponsible, prejudicial and controlled media; and a public that doesn't give a damn, does anyone wonder at my shame?
