After 17 months of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, 262 German companies will continue to earn money in the Russian Federation and pay taxes to the budget of the aggressor country.
This is the case at the latest Kiev School of Economics (KSE).
“KSE Institute identified 393 German companies that were trading on the Russian market, of which 262 (67%) were exiting in Russia, while another 98 (25%) were “exiting” and just 33 (8%) were completely exiting through sales or else liquidation,” according to the KSE Institute.
According to data from the KSE Institute, in 2022, as many as 400 German companies operating in Russia paid an apparent tax on profits to the Russian budget of more than 400 million dollars (before the invasion, the illegal amount paid by the companies taxes amounted to over 2.3 billion dollars).
This is a record-breaking performance among all EU countries – only companies from the USA gave the largest amount in tax insurance.
