<p><strong>Russian assets can become a source of funds necessary for the resistance and restoration of Ukraine.</strong></p>
<p >At the end of 2023, the World Bank estimated the damage to Ukraine caused by Russian aggression at $500 billion. At the same time, the amount of Russian assets that the West froze after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine is about $300 billion. That is, this amount is not enough to compensate for all the losses and destruction caused by the aggressor country.</p>
<p>This was announced by the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Andrey Pyshny on the air of the “United News” telethon.</p>
<p> “The exact figure is not stated anywhere. It always appears with a certain range: 260-280-300 depending on the country. But we can understand the total volume. It is about $300 billion,” noted Pyshny.</p>
<p>By According to the head of the National Bank, frozen Russian assets can become a source of covering losses from the war, both existing and possible, since the war is still ongoing.</p>
<p>“We expect that these [frozen assets of the Russian Federation – ed.] will be a source of appropriate funds that Ukraine will need both for resistance and for compensation,” the regulator noted.</p>
<p>Recall that the Minister of Justice spoke about possible scenarios for the use of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine. The final decision should be made in June at the G7 summit in Italy.</p>
