Meta announced on Monday the appointment of Dina Powell McCormick as the company’s new president and vice chairman, Baltimore Chronicle reporting, with links to CNBC. Powell McCormick had previously joined Meta’s board in April but resigned in December, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In her newly appointed roles, she will be part of Meta’s executive management team, contributing to the company’s strategic direction and operational execution.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted Powell McCormick’s extensive experience, stating that her leadership in global finance and international networks positions her to support Meta’s next phase of growth. Powell McCormick’s career spans senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including 16 years at Goldman Sachs and executive roles at BDT & MSD Partners.

Before her corporate tenure, Powell McCormick served as deputy national security advisor to former President Donald Trump and worked under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during President George W. Bush’s administration. Her appointment marks the second recent addition of a former Trump administration official to Meta’s executive team, following Curtis Joseph Mahoney’s hire as chief legal officer earlier this month. Mahoney previously served as deputy U.S. trade representative in Trump’s first term.

Former President Trump publicly congratulated Powell McCormick on social media, praising her service in the Trump administration and her professional capabilities, describing her as a talented leader well-suited for Meta’s executive roles.

Powell McCormick’s return to Meta comes after her brief tenure on the company’s board and reflects a broader strategy by the company to leverage leadership with diverse experience in finance, government, and corporate governance. Analysts note that her combined expertise is expected to influence Meta’s strategic initiatives, international partnerships, and growth execution across multiple business segments.
