Potato prices are breaking records: should we expect a reduction in prices?>

Market operators have not ruled out that potato prices will continue to rise, as the supply of this vegetable continues to decline.

< p>In Ukraine there is an increase in potato prices. One of the reasons for the rise in price was the shortage of quality products.

This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

Analysts explained that wholesale companies and retail chains are increasingly faced with the problem of purchasing the required volumes of quality potatoes.

Experts added that this situation allows farmers to confidently increase prices for high-quality potatoes.

In particular, on March 5, Ukrainian producers shipped potatoes for 16-23 UAH/kg, which is on average 14% more expensive than a week earlier.

Market players emphasized that currently the stocks of high-quality potatoes in Ukrainian farms are already quite limited, while the demand for these products continues to grow. This is the main reason for the rise in prices.

It should be noted that potatoes are currently on average 2.8 times more expensive than at the beginning of March 2023.

Previously reported, that, although inflation in Ukraine is slowing down, almost all products, services and goods have become more expensive over the year.

The Ministry of Agricultural Policy believes that in 2024 prices for basicproducts< /strong> in Ukraine will remain stable, but only of Ukrainian production.
