Ukrainians spent the largest part of their budget in 2023 on food and payments necessary for life. This figure reaches 66% – more than twice the global average.

This is stated in a study from Deloitte.

This year, sociologists compared the consumer sentiment of Ukrainians with the sentiment of consumers in Germany, Poland, the USA, Canada, South Africa and with the world average.

As it turned out, Ukrainians spend significantly less on goods and services that are not necessary for basic existence.

Ukraine is the only one of the countries studied where expenses on food and mandatory payments exceed 50%.

In 2023, Ukrainian consumers continued their tendency to save. Depending on the product category, you save from 41% to77%of Ukrainians.

According to the results of the study, Ukrainians spend 2% on leisure (including restaurants/cafes), recreation and tourism. While residents of Germany – 17%; Poland – 15%; USA – 19%, Canada – 15%, South Africa – 17%.

For electronics, household appliances and goods Ukrainians also spend 2% of their budget on household items. While residents of Germany – 10%Poland – 12%, USA – 12%, Canada – 10%, South Africa – 14%. p>

“In such categories as clothing and footwear, healthcare, transportation costs and digital services, there is no tangible difference between Ukrainians and residents of compared countries” , the message says.

The survey of Ukrainians, which formed the basis of the study, was conducted from November 13 to November 28, 2023. More than 1,000 Ukrainian residents over 18 years of age who use smartphones took part in it. The survey covered all regions of Ukraine (with the exception of temporarily occupied territories).
