Raising certain taxes is inevitable – Getmantsev reveals details

According to Getmantsev, the situation with the payment of money to the military may worsen as early as the end of September.

The government bill on raising taxes is not optimal and needs to be revised, but raising certain taxes is inevitable.

This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial, Tax and Customs Policy Danilo Getmantsev.

According to the budget committee, the situation with the current maintenance of the army, including payment of military salaries, may worsen as early as the end of September.

“Yes, we have an overfulfillment of taxes (for the year it will be about 90-100 billion UAH), but it is not enough to cover the entire gap in financing the security and defense sector (500 billion UAH),” Getmantsev writes.

In the coming weeks, he predicts a “complex and frank discussion” about amending the 2024 budget. The MP agreed that the bill developed by the government is not optimal and needs significant revision.

“However, raising individual taxes to cover the deficit in financing military spending, unfortunately, cannot be avoided. The task of the parliament now is to find a broad public compromise on this issue regarding the optimal set of tax initiatives, budget financing through internal loans and additional reduction of budget expenditures,” Getmantsev summed up.

Earlier, the head of the budget committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Roksolana Pidlasa, said that in 2 months the military could be left without salaries.
