The September increase in fuel prices will be minimal.
In Ukraine, the increase in fuel prices will be almost imperceptible from September – even after the increase in excise taxes. Only autogas may become significantly more expensive.
This was reported by the director of the A-95 Consulting Group, Serhiy Kuyun, according to Ukrinform.
“From September 1, the excise tax on gasoline will increase by UAH 1.5. On diesel fuel, by less than UAH 2 per liter. There will be a greater increase, UAH 5, on liquefied gas. As for gasoline and diesel, it is not a fact that we will see any changes. After all, we are talking about “ordinary” market fluctuations that consumers do not even notice,” Kuyun explained.
He noted that the price of oil on world markets has fallen below $80 per barrel in recent days, while a month ago it reached $87.
“If the new excise tax had come into effect, for example, not on September 1, but on August 1, then I am sure we would not have seen any changes on the steles at all. After all, the purchase price has fallen, and the excise tax has grown. Accordingly, they will compensate each other. Perhaps there would even be a further reduction in prices,” the expert said.
According to him, the increase in the cost of autogas will be more significant. However, the use of this fuel will remain more profitable than gasoline. Consequently, Kuyun believes, this will allow the installation of gas-cylinder equipment on cars.
The expert notes that the cost of fuel in Ukraine is currently high. In particular, due to the fact that a new supply system is in place across the western border. Accordingly, more expensive logistics also affects the price of fuel.
As reported, taxes will increase significantly in Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers is preparing proposals for changes to the Tax Code. In particular, it is proposed to increase the military tax rate to 5%, but other taxes and fees will also increase.
