In Ukraine, prices for bread and cereals may rise rapidly: price forecast until the end of summer 2024

According to forecast estimates by scientists from the Institute of Agrarian Economics, in August 2024, cereals may rise in price by 3- 5%, and bread by 4-6%.

By the end of summer 2024, prices for cereals may rise by 3-5%, and for bread – by 4-6%. The reason is the increase in prices for raw materials and electricity.

This was stated by Svetlana Cheremissina, a scientist at the Institute of Agrarian Economics, in a commentary on Channel 24.

She noted that during this summer the entire list of grain processing products has risen slightly in price.

Also, for the first time after a long-term decline in price, buckwheat has become more expensive by 5.3% — up to 28.26 hryvnia per kilogram. In addition, bread itself and bakery products have become more expensive.

“The rise in electricity prices will significantly affect the price dynamics of the entire list of bakery products. In addition to this objective factor, the rise in prices for products of the bakery industry will be affected by the rise in prices for raw materials in the production process,” warned Svetlana Cheremisina.
