Ukrainians may have their gas tariffs raised: condition named

The increase in cost will not be a critical problem.

Ukraine may raise gas prices as a result of the termination of Russian gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system.

This forecast was announced by Serhiy Makogon, former head of the Ukrainian GTS Operator, in an interview with “LIGA.net”.

However, he reassures that this should not cause serious problems, since the increase in cost is expected to be only about 3%.

It is noted that such an increase in cost is not a critical problem.

“Currently, gas transportation in the domestic system costs about 0.2 UAH per cubic meter. According to my calculations, in the case of zero transit, this figure will grow to no more than 0.6 UAH per cubic meter,” the statement says.

According to him, for comparison, in the summer the market price for electricity increased by 60%, so even if the final price for gas increases by 5-10%, this will not become a serious problem.

It is important to note that the current contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine is valid until the end of 2024. After that, Ukraine does not intend to extend the transit agreements,” the statement added.

Recall that the head of the board of Naftogaz announced a moratorium on price increases.
