The law on increasing taxes has been postponed until autumn: what changes are being prepared for Ukrainians

The Ukrainian government is looking for ways to increase budget revenues and assures that there is simply no alternative to raising taxes.

The Verkhovna Rada will not vote on the bill regarding increasing a number of taxes until September, and the concept of the document itself has changed.

Forbes Ukraine writes about this.

The main change that was agreed upon is that instead of a 1 percent tax on turnover for legal entities, the bill will include an increase in VAT by 3-4 percentage points to 23-24%, according to sources in the Cabinet of Ministers and parliament.

Another change that is being prepared is an advance tax for gas stations.

The government version proposed introducing an advance tax of UAH 4,000 per cubic meter of fuel storage capacity.

The new concept is that gas stations will pay a fixed fee for each facility, said a people's deputy and a source from one of the gas station networks. The working version is a minimum payment of 60 thousand UAH per gas station per month.

“The increase in military tax for individuals and sole proprietors remains unchanged, noted the people's deputy involved in the negotiations,” the publication writes.

Also, according to the publication, the Verkhovna Rada will not have time to adopt tax changes before September, so the new taxes should be collected as early as October 1, the people's deputies said.

Recall:

The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to introduce a new military tax rate and other payments aimed at providing the state budget with UAH 140 billion. The government aims to raise the military tax to 5%, as well as introduce a 1% income tax for all enterprises in the country. In addition, it is planned to collect a military tax from the sale of real estate (5%), from the purchase of new cars (15%), from the sale of jewelry (30%), etc.

The fact that Ukraine has other sources of income was reported by the US Special Representative for Economic Recovery of Ukraine Penny Pritzker. She noted that together with Ambassador Bridget Brink, she proposed to the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers to reform customs through digitalization, which, in her opinion, will help prevent corruption.

The US Special Representative believes that such steps will be able to attract funds from individuals who evade taxes to the budget.
