The heat is putting additional pressure on prices.
Plum prices in Ukraine have dropped sharply. Fruits are getting cheaper due to oversupply on the market.
EastFruit writes about this.
Analysts noted that the demand for plums from wholesale companies is low, but supply volumes continue to grow. Thus, today the prices for plums vary in the range of 8-14 UAH/kg ($0.19-0.34/kg), which is on average 54% cheaper than at the end of the last working week.
It is noted that the hot weather contributed to the accelerated ripening of plums and negatively affected their quality, which puts additional pressure on prices.
Producers are concerned that plum prices have already fallen below last year's level, when the fruit was sold on average 33% more expensive than today. At the same time, gardeners do not rule out that under the current circumstances they will be forced to further reduce prices.
Recall that the day before, the NBU reported that further acceleration of inflation is expected in the coming months due to an increase in business costs for wages and electricity, an increase in excise taxes and the effects of the hryvnia devaluation carryover.
