What will be the power outages in the near future: an energy expert made a forecast

Andrey Zakrevsky believes that in the absence of shelling, it will still be impossible to forget about power outages.

In the near future, if we do not create peaks in consumption for ourselves in the morning and evening, then we can avoid power outages altogether.

This was stated by energy expert, chairman of the board of the Association “Oil and Gas of Ukraine” Andrey Zakrevsky on the air of “Espresso”.

The expert also predicted what the power outages will be like in in the near future.

“In the near future, if we do not create peaks of consumption for ourselves in the morning and evening, then we may not have any outages at all. And since I do not believe in this, but I believe that we will stubbornly repeat these peaks, moreover, now there will be the so-called effect of an underfilled tank, that is, when you refuel your car because you think that tomorrow there will be no gasoline at the gas station. We will see the same with our EcoFlow, Bluetti and other banks with electrons. That is, the situation is such that without the same raids that we have just seen, we will see a complete absence of outages, I think that there will definitely be no emergency outages, it is already getting cooler and cooler. And we will see that there are not even outages, there is even a little export abroad during the day, and during peaks, maybe one queue will be disconnected here,” said Andrey Zakrevsky.

The expert also believes that in the absence of shelling, about the power outage it will not be possible to forget anyway.

“In the next two years, we will have the same situation that we have now. There will be two things that will hold us back. First: when our generation increases, our business will also increase at the same time, that is, our economy is growing little by little, growing a little, by 3.5 to 4.5% per year, but it is growing and the load on our power grids is also increasing by 3.5-4.5%. And our situation is such that we still have 750-kilovolt lines that have not been finished off, and 350-kilovolt lines are still not finished off. If they had already finished off these unfortunate 11 high-voltage transformers, we would be in a very bad way now. We just need to abandon this legacy of the Soviet era. And if they finish it off little by little, it will become difficult for us at such moments. It is no secret that of those strikes that took place in August, during the biggest raid, we got this bad moment precisely because there were at least two objects. One is closer to central Ukraine, the other the facility in western Ukraine is very powerful. This is not generation, we have nothing left to knock out except the nuclear power plant. These are precisely distribution networks, where high-voltage transmission lines are,” he explained.

Recall that the restoration of damaged power grids will continue longer than expected, however, critical situations in the power system are not expected in the near future.
