Dairy products have become significantly more expensive in Ukraine: what will happen next with prices

Heat and power outages affected the price.

Prices for dairy products in Ukraine have increased significantly due to a decrease in milk production and power outages.

This was reported by Georgy Kukhaleishvili, an analyst at the Milk Producers Association.

Thus, pasteurized milk now costs up to UAH 49.86 per liter, kefir – up to UAH 87.20 per kilogram, and sour cream – up to UAH 190.57 per kilogram, which makes these products less accessible to consumers.

Long-term power outages caused by Russian missile strikes on energy infrastructure are disrupting ventilation and cooling systems on farms.

The heat is having a negative impact on the productivity of cows suffering from heat stroke, which is leading to a decrease in milk production. As a result, dairy processing plants are facing a significant shortage of raw materials.

This has led to an increase in purchase prices, which has affected the cost of dairy products in stores. According to Kukhaleishvili, prices for basic dairy products have increased by 20%.

We recall that the day before, the NBU reported that further acceleration of inflation is expected in the coming months due to increased business costs for labor and electricity, increased excise taxes, and the effects of the hryvnia devaluation pass-through.

And experts reported that food prices will rise in Ukraine in the near future. Read more about this in news.
