This new contribution of $19.5 million is one of the largest for Ukraine from Denmark.
The Government of Denmarkwill allocate 130 million Danish kroner (about 19.5 million dollars) to support the energy system of Ukraine, which suffered from Russian attacks.
This was announced on Monday, September 23, by the Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities of Denmark Lars Aagaard, NV reports.
This new contribution is one of the largest for Ukraine from Denmark. The announcement took place within the framework of the G7 working group on energy security for Ukraine.
“Russia is breaking the rules of war with massive attacks on Ukraine's electrical and heating infrastructure. Winter is approaching, and many Ukrainian homes will be left without heat and electricity. Not only that, but ordinary energy workers who do their jobs non-stop are becoming targets. We must do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine's energy system is as strong as possible,” the minister said.
Danish aid will help implement urgent measures, purchase equipment and spare parts to restore energy security.
Recall that The coming winter could be Ukraine's toughest test yet as power supplies risk “major disruptions” following large-scale Russian attacks. The expected deficit in the power grid during the cold weather could reach 6 GW, according to a report by the International Energy Agency.
