Prices have started to creep down.
Representatives of greenhouse complexes of Ukraine were forced to reduce the selling prices of cucumbers. One of the reasons was a significant increase in the supply of greenhouse cucumbers.
This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
Thus, on September 20, greenhouse farms sold cucumbers at 40-55 UAH/kg ($0.97-1.33/kg), depending on the variety, quality and volume of the offered product.
Analysts added that current prices are already on average 11% lower than at the end of the last working week.
Experts noted that greenhouse plants were unable to avoid a price decline, despite a significant decrease in competition from open-ground cucumbers.
“Currently, these products are offered by individual farms that ship residual lots of medium and low-quality vegetables to the market,” the report says.
Analysts emphasized that, despite another decrease in selling prices for greenhouse cucumbers, these products are currently goes on sale at 150% higher prices than in the same period in 2023.
