Popular Vegetable Has Increased in Price Again in Ukraine

Popular vegetable prices have gone up again in Ukraine

Cucumber prices are creeping up.

This week, Ukrainian producers of greenhouse cucumbers raised prices for their products. One of the reasons for this situation was the limited supply of cucumbers on the market.

This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

In particular, on September 27, greenhouse complexes sold cucumbers at 45-60 UAH/kg ($1.09-1.46/kg), which is on average 12% more expensive than at the end of the previous working week.

Market operators explained that the rise in prices for this vegetable is associated with several factors. In particular, this was due to the limited supply of cucumbers on the market, since open-ground products are practically no longer available for sale.

“In addition, not all greenhouse complexes have yet started harvesting the second-turn cucumber crop, and their samples are quite small due to cool and cloudy weather,” the report says.

Analysts noted that greenhouse cucumbers on the Ukrainian market are already on average twice as expensive as for the same period in 2023. Many market players do not rule out the possibility of further rise in cucumber prices due to active demand.

Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine, the growth of prices for food products may accelerate in September-October. In particular, vegetables and dairy products may become more expensive.
