The largest amount of debt is recorded in euros and US dollars.

In the second quarter of 2024, the total amount of state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine increased in hryvnia equivalent by UAH 243.7 billion. In dollar equivalent – by $1.1 billion.

September was the first month during the entire Great War (since February 24, 2022) when Ukraine did not receive international aid, said People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, total revenues to the state budget for September amounted to UAH 191 billion.

According to the Ministry of Finance, in January-September, international partners allocated $24.5 billion to our country, notes the publication mind.ua.

In particular, $8.4 billion in external funding was received in August, of which $5.5 billion were grants and $2.9 billion were borrowed.

In total, the amount of international grants since the beginning of 2024 exceeded $6.5 billion, while the volume of borrowed money reached almost $18 billion. That is, the ratio is 27% and 73%, respectively. For comparison: in 2023, grants exceeded 40% of the total volume of international funding.

External debt is represented mainly by obligations to international organizations such as the IMF, the European Investment Bank, the EBRD, the financial institutions of the European Union (UAH 3.1 trillion, or $74.4 billion), to the owners of Ukraine's Eurobonds (UAH 627 billion, or $15.2 billion) and debts to the governments of partner countries (UAH 318.5 billion, or $7.7 billion).

How much debt Ukraine must repay by the end of 2024

According to the repayment schedule, payments on the state debt will amount to UAH 276.3 billion during October-December. Of this amount, payments on domestic debt are UAH 205 billion, on external debt – UAH 71 billion.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance notes that thanks to the restructuring of Ukraine's Eurobonds in August, it was possible to significantly reduce payments on external debt. The total amount of savings was over UAH 606 ​​billion.

What will happen to the public debt in 2025

The draft state budget provides that by the end of 2025, the volume of public and publicly guaranteed debt will reach UAH 8.6 trillion, which is 35% more than on August 31, 2024.

In 2025, the total volume of borrowing, both domestic and foreign, will be UAH 2.33 trillion, and debt repayment will be UAH 0.69 trillion.
