Prices Will Be “Space-Sky”: When Will Food Prices Go Up Again in Ukraine?

 Prices will be

Fur prices should be expected in Ukraine.

Food prices in Ukraine are growing every month, but a real boom in certain categories of goods is expected in November.

Experts told Glavred about this.

In particular, economist and head of the public union “Economic Discussion Club” Oleg Pendzin explained what will affect the growth of prices next month due to increased inflation.

“Our cheapest prices are in August-September. Then everything goes up in price – this is evident from the vegetables of the borscht group (potatoes, onions, carrots, beets, cabbage). The only thing that can stop in price is expensive products, for which the population's demand will decrease due to a decrease in purchasing power,” he said.

For example, potatoes have already increased in price by almost 70%, and the borscht group by 40-45%. In the future, it is difficult to predict how much these products will increase in price. Everything will depend on macroeconomic financing and the stability of the hryvnia against the dollar and the euro.

Deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denis Marchuk clarified that due to the increase in prices for vegetables, they will be stored. Seasonality also plays a role, not only for vegetables, but also for dairy products and eggs.

“Due to weather conditions and drought, we did not receive enough planting material to store it during the season and sell it. Therefore, as supply decreases (and demand is stable), prices may rise – by the end of the year, the increase may be up to 15% under conditions of a stable electricity situation. If there are consequences of Russia's next attempts to strike at the energy infrastructure and producers are forced to turn on industrial generators, where a kilowatt can cost 30 hryvnia, this will be included in the price,” Marchuk explained.

Earlier, the State Statistics Service reported that price growth in Ukraine in September was the largest since the beginning of 2024.
