Apple prices are the highest in the last eight years.
In Ukraine, prices for all apples have increased, but fruits of juice or technical quality have risen in price to a record high.

In October, the average price of a “technical” apple rose to 30 euro cents. There are two reasons for the price increase. The first is the weather. The harvest has decreased in some places due to frost. The second is an increase in export volumes. There is a result: in a year, the price of apple raw materials for juice producers in Ukraine has almost tripled.
Even with high prices in Ukraine, fruit producers primarily send their harvest for export. There are long-term contracts there. Although if prices in Ukraine have now increased and are almost the same as those of foreign wholesalers, the situation may change.
“In any case, long-term export contracts are a priority. Firstly, they ensure stable sales at the best prices. Secondly, it is a reputation,” says Yuriy Strelets, head of garden projects at the Gals Agro agricultural holding.
The situation on the domestic apple market can only be saved by a decrease in demand abroad.
“The price increase may stop when Poland starts paying less for technical apples,” said Vladimir Gurzhiy, CEO of USPA Fruit.
