People do not want to live in poverty without state support in Ukraine.

The state policy in the sphere of supporting internally displaced persons has completely failed, so more and more Ukrainians are returning to the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.

This was stated by the head of the Servant of the People party, Olena Shulyak.

“In fact, the state policy on the issue of supporting IDPs has completely failed,” Shulyak wrote.

She explained that the number of internally displaced persons is decreasing not because they are finding a new home in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

“They are simply returning to the occupation. They make their difficult choice, facing a dilemma: to live under occupation or in poverty without state support – they are returning to the IDPs,” Shulyak noted.

According to her, the main and basic need of IDPs is their own housing, which two state programs should help with.

In order to ensure that families continue to comply with the current regulation (or the procedure for receiving payments), the state, through the social security department, will check within a month whether the financial and property status of these families has changed significantly.

The criteria for eligibility for payment have also not changed: they remain the same as they were when reassigning assistance to families who applied in March 2024.

We remind you that the rules for internally displaced persons (IDPs) have changed in Ukraine. In particular, the government has regulated the issue of preventing the eviction of vulnerable categories of IDPs from temporary housing.
