Prices for cabbage have crept down.
This week, white cabbage has fallen in price in Ukraine. Producers attribute this to the excess of products on the market.
EastFruit writes about this.
There is currently a large amount of mid-late cabbage varieties on the market, suitable for long-term storage.
White cabbage is sold at a price of 15 to 23 UAH/kg. On average, this is 16% cheaper than at the end of last week. The wide price range is explained by the different quality of vegetables.
“Most farms are still actively harvesting, as a result of which the supply on the market is growing. At the same time, the demand for this product remains extremely low. Wholesale companies and retail chains are ready to make purchases exclusively in small wholesale, citing a limited shelf life, since most farmers offer low-quality cabbage for sale,” analysts say.
Market participants do not rule out that prices will fall. Many farms are actively harvesting thanks to the improving weather. Due to this, the gradual increase in cabbage supplies to the market will force farmers to give in to the price if the situation with sales rates does not change.
Earlier it was reported that food products will become more expensive in Ukraine already in November. Read more about this in news.
