The volume of cash in Ukraine has decreased: which banknotes have become fewer

There are 63 banknotes per Ukrainian.

At the beginning of October, there were UAH 796.5 billion in cash circulation in Ukraine, which is UAH 32.1 billion or 4.2% more than at the beginning of this year.

This data was published by the press service of the National Bank.

A total of 2.6 billion banknotes worth UAH 788.7 billion were in circulation during the specified period, and also 14.8 billion coins (excluding commemorative and investment coins) worth UAH 7.6 billion.

The NBU reported that there were 63 banknotes and 184 payment change and circulating coins per capita in Ukraine (at the beginning of the year – 66 and 177, respectively).

At the same time, the number of UAH 200 banknotes in circulation decreased. They are 17.6% less than at the beginning of 2024.

We remind you that the National Bank will begin to withdraw old-style 500 hryvnia banknotes (2003-2007) from circulation in order to gradually replace them with banknotes of the modern generation, namely 2014 and subsequent years of issue.
