Cucumber prices in Ukraine have reached a seven-year high: how much a kilogram costs

Positive price dynamics have been maintained for the third week in a row.

The rapid growth of prices for greenhouse cucumbers continues in Ukraine. Experts attribute this to a shortage of products on the domestic market due to limited supply from local producers.

This is reported by the EastFruit project.

Ahead of the weekend, producers are selling cucumbers at a price of 80-100 UAH/kg ($1.94-2.42/kg), which is 24% higher than the end of the previous working week.

This price level is the highest in the last 7 years of observations, and positive price dynamics have been maintained for the third week in a row.

Importers report preparations for mass purchases of cucumbers in Turkey due to a significant reduction in supply from Ukrainian farms. Traditionally, imported products begin to enter the domestic market in the second half of October, when the supply of local vegetables decreases sharply.

The largest volumes of imports occur in the first two winter months, when domestic production is practically non-existent.

Currently, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are offered at an average of 29% higher prices than last year during the same period.

Experts predict that greenhouse plants may continue to raise prices while maintaining the current sales rates. In their opinion, the price increase will stop only with the start of large batches of imported cucumbers.

Earlier it was reported that cabbage has become cheaper in Ukraine. What is the current price – read in the news.
