Why extra cubic meters are charged: Ukrainians were told how not to overpay for gas

Ignoring the transmission of readings can lead to overpayment, since this data is the basis for calculating the payment for gas.

Ukrainians should promptly transmit meter readings to gas workers in order to avoid receiving payments for gas with increased consumption volumes. This should be done monthly from the 1st to the 5th.

GazPravda reports this.

You can submit the readings in your personal account with the national operator Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine, but only if it is the supplier in your region.

“There are also local operators. For example, they work in Kyiv, Odessa or Poltava regions. In this case, you need to transmit meter readings using the local operator's service,” the statement says.

Naftogaz subscribers can transmit meter readings using the gas.ua chatbot. This can also be done by phone – by calling or sending an SMS message.

Ignoring the transmission of indicators can lead to overpayment, since this data is the basis for calculating the payment for gas.

“If you ignore the transmission of indicators, you will receive average data in your payment documents. Which may be higher than the actual volume consumed. Everything will be calculated based on the so-called planned monthly consumption volume – the average consumption over the previous three years,” the authors of the material explained.

At the same time, it is noted: you need to transmit meter readings even when you do not live at a specific address or do not use gas. Otherwise, the operator will calculate the consumed gas according to the planned volumes. And then there will be a debt.

However, you can submit an application or report by phone that no one lives at a specific address. Or record the same meter reading every month to avoid charges.

Recall that in 2025, Ukrainians will have to pay more for gas delivery.
