Tax hikes are inevitable: the 2025 budget will not have enough money for the army - MP

Next year's budget is unbalanced, since President Zelensky has not yet signed the law on increasing taxes.

The state budget for 2025 adopted by the Verkhovna Rada includes UAH 120 billion for financing the Defense Forces. It is impossible to collect such funds without raising taxes.

This opinion was expressed by MP Olha Vasilevskaya-Smaglyuk in a commentary to “Novosti. Live”.

According to her, the budget for next year is not balanced, since President Zelensky has not yet signed the law on raising taxes, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on October 10.

“We need to get 120 billion from somewhere, which are already in the draft budget, allocated for the army, but not supported by tax increases,” the people's deputy explained.

At the same time, Vasilevskaya-Smaglyuk emphasized that 56% of the budget will be used to finance the Defense Forces.

The day before, on November 8, the government approved the draft State Budget for 2025 before the second reading. Despite the changes, the main priority remained unchanged – defense, defense capability and security of Ukraine.

Let us recall that on October 10, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill on increasing taxes in general. In particular, for some Ukrainians, the military tax will increase from 1.5 to 5%. What and how much each Ukrainian and business will now pay for, read on ТСН.ua.
