Without Western aid, Ukraine will have nothing to cover the entire civilian part of the 2025 budget expenses.
The state budget of Ukraine for 2025 is drawn up with the assumption that Western partners will continue to cover the entire civilian part of the expenses. If the aid stops, there will be nothing to finance these expenses with.
People's Deputy of Ukraine Nina Yuzhanina stated this on the air of “Novyna.LIVE”.
Yuzhanina answered the host's question about whether there is a “plan B” in case external financing stops.
“I think that there is a “plan B”, absolutely definitely: stop all payments except military ones. And we should all worry together – because this is the martial law that should be – unite, find other mechanisms for assistance, payments, restrictions,” the people's representative said.
The deputy noted that the 2024 budget is not optimal either. According to Yuzhanina, it contains expenses that could be avoided. As an example, the politician cited the increase in spending on road infrastructure.
Recall that after Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called on EU leaders to reconsider providing financial assistance to Ukraine. Orban is concerned about the fate of the 50 billion loan for Kyiv, previously agreed upon by the G7 countries.
