Low demand: Ukraine cuts prices for borscht set product

Low demand: Ukraine is cutting prices for a product from the borscht set

At the same time, prices for it are higher than last year.

Prices for carrots are being cut in Ukraine.

This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

As noted by producers, demand for carrots today remains low: wholesale companies purchase them according to requests for products for long-term storage, which negatively affects the overall price level.

“Yes, today producers ship carrots at 15-23 UAH/kg (0.36-0.56 USD/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the offered vegetable lots, which is on average 21% cheaper than the week before. The reason for the decrease in prices for root crops, according to the project experts, is the seasonal increase in supply against the background of a rather restrained demand for these products. In an effort to boost sales, farmers are forced to revise selling prices for carrots downwards,” EastFruit notes.

At the same time, despite the price decline, today carrots in Ukraine cost an average of 2.4 times more than the same period in 2023.

Recall that earlier experts told what Ukrainians should expect from food prices. In particular, economist and member of the NBU Council of Ukraine Vasyl Furman spoke about the reasons for the increase in the cost of some popular ones.
