Vegetable prices: one of the basic vegetables has become cheaper in Ukraine

The supply of carrots has increased on the market.

A decrease in carrot prices is observed in Ukraine. This is due to the fact that the demand for this vegetable remains quite low.

This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

According to producers, wholesale companies purchase carrots as needed, because they prefer not to store the products for a long time, which negatively affects the overall price level.

Thus, as of November 20, producers shipped carrots at 15-23 UAH/kg ($0.36-0.56/kg), depending on the quality and volume of vegetable lots, which is on average 21% cheaper than the week before.

Analysts noted that the main reason for the decline in prices for root crops is the seasonal increase in supply against the background of fairly restrained demand for products.

“Therefore, in an effort to activate sales, farmers are forced to revise selling prices for carrots downwards,” the report says.

Experts also emphasized that, despite price reduction, carrots in Ukraine are now on average 2.4 times more expensive than in the same period in 2023. Industry experts attribute this price difference to a fairly sharp decline in the yield of this root crop due to the abnormally dry summer.

Earlier it was reported that food prices in Ukraine would rise in November. Read more about this in the news.
