By the end of the year, the price of eggs may rise by another 10%.
Traditionally, in the summer, egg prices are lower due to increased supply and rapid sale of the product. And in the fall, prices rise.
This opinion was expressed by Maxim Hopko, an analyst at the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB), in a commentary for ICTV Facts.
According to him, one of the reasons for the rise in price is the increase in the cost of production. Prices for feed wheat, corn, and sunflower meal have increased. Therefore, feed has become more expensive and the cost of keeping chickens has increased.
Among other reasons are electricity prices. They are also growing, and its consumption will only increase with the arrival of cold weather. Due to the short daylight hours, birds require comfortable conditions, including lighting.
“In addition, there is a seasonal factor, in particular, the supply from households, which is consistently high from May to September, is decreasing,” said Maksym Gopka.
Egg prices in Ukraine will continue to rise in the fall and winter due to additional costs for heating and lighting, but will stabilize in the spring when the supply increases, the expert says.
Recall that the cost of carrots in Ukraine reached 18-25 UAH/kg due to active purchases by wholesalers and the population.
