The new procedure will come into force after the lifting of martial law.
The government has approved a new procedure for the return of food products unsuitable or dangerous for consumption.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
The new procedure will come into force simultaneously with the new version of the Law “On Protection of Consumer Rights”, that is, after the termination or lifting of martial law.
“The proposed mechanism will protect the rights of buyers and at the same time provide businesses with the opportunity to quickly and without going to court to settle with consumers controversial issues. This will to a certain extent protect honest businesses from inspections and will become a reliable mechanism for protecting consumer rights,” explained Deputy Minister Tatyana Berezhnaya.
Buyers can exchange unsuitable/dangerous products or return their money. At the same time, clear deadlines for the return or replacement of products, as well as the procedure for the consumer and seller, have been established.
In particular, products can be returned or replaced:
- within 24 hours, if the storage temperature is +6°C
- within three days, if the maximum period “apply to” or the minimum shelf life of the product does not exceed 14 days (but before the expiration date)
- within 14 days, if these are products with a shelf life of more than 14 days
If the products were purchased online, the return and replacement periods begin to apply from the moment the customer actually receives the goods.
We remind you that Ukrainian entrepreneurs lost the opportunity to compensate for losses by announcing a retroactive tax increase.
