The AMCU recalled that this is not the first time they have responded to the situation with an increase in prices for this category of goods.
In Ukraine, they are checking the reasons for the increase in egg prices, which began in October 2024.
This was reported by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU).
Requirements to provide information are sent to business entities that:
- directly produce chicken eggs
- sell eggs
- produce compound feed, the price of which determines the cost of eggs
The AMCU recalled that this is not the first time they have reacted to a jump in prices for chicken eggs. In October 2022, the cost of eggs also increased, which is why they began an audit. Then, experts analyzed data from market participants at each of the links in the commodity turnover – for consumer production.
This year, the committee again drew attention to how egg prices have risen. It is noted that the jump in cost is similar to the one that occurred in September-October 2022.
Recall that in Ukraine in the fall of 2022, egg prices broke records, but then the situation gradually stabilized. Currently, egg prices have already begun to rise. This is due to the seasonal factor – from September to December there are almost no products from households on the market.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the consumer price of eggs in September – October was 44.18-48.75 UAH per dozen, which is 19% higher than the price for July-August in the amount of 38.99-39.02 UAH per dozen. At the same time, in October, compared to September of this year, the price increased by 10.3%. In stores, a dozen costs from 70 UAH and up.
