The state will gain access to the banking secrets of millions of Ukrainians: what is known

The Cabinet of Ministers' resolution stipulates that in order to open a “National Cashback” card, the client must provide permission to disclose banking secrets.

“Interesting nuances” regarding participation in the “National Cashback” program have become known. In particular, the agreement for opening a National Cashback card in PrivatBank provides for the client's consent to disclose banking secrecy on all of his accounts – both current and opened in the future.

This was stated by the co-founder of Monobank, Oleg Gorokhovsky.

“If you opened a National Cashback card in Privat, then it wouldn't hurt to find out what you agreed to,” he wrote, adding a screenshot from the text of the agreement.

Gorokhovsky also claimed that “other banks don't do this,” and there is still time to fix the situation. He also added that more than 1 million Ukrainians have already applied for a 1,000 hryvnia payment from the state through Monobank as of December 3.

But an hour after Gorokhovsky's publication, People's Deputy from the “Voice” faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak made an important clarification about the disclosure of banking secrecy for participants in the “National Cashback” program.

“On the transfer of banking secrecy for those who decided to trust the state and subscribe to this populism of “Nat. Cashback”. So, this is part of the requirement for all banks, which is established in the Procedure approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. If you take money, then you also agreed to transfer information. Well, I have already warned you about this several times,” he wrote.

We remind you that as of December 3, Ukrainians, with the help of “Diya”, submitted more than four million applications for the “Winter Support” program. There is demand for this type of assistance in the country.
