Dollar exchange rate in mid-December: how the currency will increase in value

In mid-December, the situation on the currency market is unlikely to get out of control, the expert believes.

A gradual appreciation of the dollar is expected in the second week of December. The NBU is not interested in a significant devaluation of the hryvnia. Therefore, one should not expect global changes, even despite the expected gradual increase in the exchange rate.

Banker Taras Lesovoy said this in a commentary to RBC.Ukraine.

According to him, the Ukrainian currency market is currently safe from rapid and uncontrolled changes. In addition, the regulator is not interested in a significant devaluation of the hryvnia, since this could give rise to a new inflationary “wave”.

“Exchange rates are not static, so it is quite logical to expect further multi-vector alternating changes, but without chaotic jumps. The upward movement of rates will continue, but slowly,” he said.

The banker predicts that the main characteristics of the currency market next week (December 9-15 will be as follows).

“The situation on the currency market is unlikely to get out of control in mid-December. Exchange rate changes will be moderate and will coincide with market expectations. For now, we can assume that exchange rate stability is a significant component of the overall situation in the country, which continues to fight for its existence. No excessive excitement is expected next week. Consequently, exchange rate changes will be quite comfortable for the market,” Lesovoy emphasized.

As reported, financial market analysts from the ICU investment company predicted what the dollar exchange rate will be until the end of the year. In particular, they consider a gradual devaluation of the hryvnia possible until the end of December.
