Popular vegetable in Ukrainian stores is becoming more expensive: what is the price now

Today, the price of carrots in Ukraine is already on average 2.3 times higher than at the beginning of January 2024.

Over the past few weeks, carrot prices in Ukraine have increased due to the depletion of stocks of high-quality root crops among many local producers.

This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

Experts noted that an additional factor putting pressure on prices was the low harvest of 2024, significantly affected by adverse weather conditions. Currently, the price range for carrots is within 25-32 UAH/kg, which is 10% more expensive than last week.

“Market participants explain the next price increase in this segment by the stable demand for high-quality carrots. At the same time, the supply of these root crops on the Ukrainian market has noticeably decreased this week,” the analysts' report says.

Experts point out that a significant number of producers have announced the end of the season for this root crop. Also, some farms are selling the remainder of harvested lots or are holding off on sales, waiting for spring to sell their products at higher prices.

“Today, the price of carrots in Ukraine is already on average 2.3 times higher than at the beginning of January 2024. Industry experts explain this price level by the reduction in the harvest of this product this season due to weather anomalies in the summer,” the experts added.

Recall that Ukrainians were warned about the rise in food prices already in the spring. Read more about this in the news.
