Prices hit 8-year high: popular fruit has become more expensive in Ukraine

Demand for apples has grown recently.

This week, Ukrainian gardeners began to actively raise prices for high-quality apples. Key market players attribute the price increase to a noticeable revival of trade and purchasing activity in this segment.

This is reported by analysts at EastFruit.

According to producers, demand for local apples remained quite low last week, but interest in these products is growing among buyers of different categories.

According to As of today, high-quality apples from Ukrainian farms are sold at a price of 25 to 32 UAH/kg (0.59-0.76 USD/kg), depending on the variety, quality and volume of the batch. Compared to the end of last week, this is 13% more expensive.

The limited supply of high-quality apples on the Ukrainian market also contributes to price increases. Now many gardeners offer products whose quality has deteriorated due to long-term storage. At the same time, high-quality apples are mostly exported or stored for sale in the spring.

Note that current prices for apples in Ukraine are on average 61% higher than the same period last year.

Recall that Ukrainians were warned about the rise in food prices in the spring. Read more about this in the news.
