Popular salad vegetable has become more expensive in Ukraine

These greenhouse vegetables cost an average of 36% more than in January 2024.

This week, the Ukrainian market has seen an increase in prices for greenhouse tomatoes.

This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.

The reduction in product supply has become a key factor that allowed sellers to increase selling prices. Turkey has traditionally been the main supplier of greenhouse tomatoes during this period. However, unfavorable weather conditions in recent weeks in this country have led to a significant reduction in vegetable export volumes.

According to daily monitoring, tomato prices in Ukraine fluctuate within the range of 85-105 UAH/kg (2.01-2.48 USD/kg), which is on average 10% higher than last week. At the same time, sellers do not dare to raise prices more significantly due to weak demand from both wholesale buyers and retail chains.

It is noted that greenhouse tomatoes on the Ukrainian market cost an average of 36% more than in mid-January 2024. However, market participants consider this situation temporary. It is expected that after the stabilization of supplies from Turkey, prices for tomatoes may fall again next week.

Recall that earlier, MP Ivan Chaikovsky warned that prices for a number of products would rise in Ukraine in the spring of 2025.
