The government has predicted food prices for the coming months: what awaits Ukrainians

Prices have stabilized over the past two months.

No increase in food prices is expected in Ukraine until the new harvest.

This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky, Ukrinform reports.

Vysotsky specified that products that went up in price in the fall, in particular eggs, have now gone down in price. In addition, there has been no significant increase in prices for vegetables for borscht. According to the minister, the drought and reduced harvest led to the fall price increase, but these factors have not yet affected prices.

In addition, prices for dairy products have tended to rise internationally, but this trend has now changed, and consumers will begin to notice.

“Today, from the point of view of analyzing the current situations, we do not see any prerequisites that would significantly affect prices before the new harvest. Because, again, the harvest that we have is fixed and does not affect the change,” Vysotsky said.

The deputy minister noted that prices remain stable due to the import of goods, which allows us to cover the short-term deficit and helps to normalize the situation.

Vysotsky expects that, depending on the volume of the new harvest, prices for some goods may decrease.

“If the harvest is large, we do not exclude the possibility of lowering prices, even in equal terms, already in the fall, since the entire harvest will be on the market. Therefore, from the point of view of prospects in these next 4-5 months, we can look with optimism, with a certain probability of adjustments towards lower prices and increased availability of some products for consumers,” the deputy minister added.

We remind you that earlier, the deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denis Marchuk said that by the new harvest season, vegetables in Ukraine will rise in price by at least 15%.
