Infographics Ukraine imported fuel and energy products worth USD 8.9 billion in 2024, which is 14.2% less than in 2023.

“During 2024, Ukraine imported fuel and energy products worth $8.9 billion, which is $1.47 billion or 14.2% less than in 2023. Export revenues decreased almost by half – from $0.39 billion to $0.2 billion,” it says.
The largest share of imports was made up of oil and oil products – 76.6% in monetary terms. The share of electricity and oil gases in imports was 7.5% each, coal – 4.5%, the share of other resources – coke, bitumen, peat, resins, oils, etc. – was 3.9%.
In particular, Ukraine imported 7.56 million tons of oil and oil products (except crude) in 2024, worth a total of $6.82 billion. The main suppliers are Greece (19.3%), Poland (13.1%), Lithuania (10.0%) and Türkiye (8.8%).
Last year, 0.98 million tons of petroleum gases were imported for $0.67 billion. The main suppliers were Poland (17.4%), Algeria (15.1%) and Lithuania (13.2%).
Coal import expenses in 2024 amounted to $402.1 million, 1.8 million tons of coal were purchased. The largest number of coal contracts came from the USA (24.6%), Australia (24.3%), the Czech Republic (17.3%) and Poland (14.5%).
In 2024, Ukraine exported 12 types of fuel and energy products to 103 countries, which provided cash receipts in the amount of $201.3 million.
In the export structure, the largest share was occupied by the sale of electricity, which amounted to 81.0 million dollars (40.3% of all revenues). Revenue from the sale of coal amounted to 36.4 million dollars (18.1%), oil and oil products – 29.1 million dollars (14.4%). Other fuel and energy products, such as petroleum gases, peat, resins, coke, pitch, bituminous mixtures, together brought Ukraine 54.8 million dollars – 27.2% of all revenues.
As reported, Ukrainian companies spent $669.4 million on electricity imports in 2024.
In 2024, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 5.5 times compared to 2023, to 4.437 million MWh. Exports decreased by 5%, to 348.5 thousand MWh.
