India's Russian Oil Imports Fall to Two-Year Low – Bloomberg

Імпорт російської нафти до Індії скоротився до мінімуму за два роки - Bloomberg

India has cut crude oil imports from Russia in February 2025 to their lowest since January 2023 as US sanctions disrupt supply chains.

As reported by Ukrinform, Bloomberg reports this with reference to data from the analytical company Kpler.

India cut its imports of Russian crude oil in February 2025 by 14.9% compared to January, to an average of 1.4 million barrels per day, the data showed.

In January 2023, this figure was 1.5 million barrels per day.

Meanwhile, Iraq, the second-largest oil supplier, increased crude shipments by 8.3%, while Saudi Arabia shipped 0.7% less oil to India than last month.

Refiners in the world's third-largest oil consumer, India, also bought more from Nigeria, Angola, Mexico and Colombia to offset the Russian barrels, according to Kpler.

Purchases by the South Asian country, the biggest buyer of seaborne Russian crude in 2024, are likely to fall further in the next two months as U.S. sanctions have sharply reduced the availability of tankers and sellers of discounted cargoes.

As reported by Ukrinform, following the introduction of the latest sanctions packages, more than half of Russia’s “shadow tanker fleet”, more than 300 vessels, were subject to sanctions.
