We have a shortage of tomatoes.
Prices for imported tomatoes have increased in Ukrainian markets and stores. Depending on quality, their cost is on average 25% higher than at the end of last week.

The project experts explain this price trend by the reduction in the supply of imported tomatoes to Ukraine. In particular, those produced in Turkey. This is due to a decrease in imports from this country due to unfavorable weather conditions in the producing country.
According to experts, last week importers and wholesalers were focused on selling tomatoes, which they had purchased at the beginning of February of this year. At that time, the low rates of trade activity did not contribute to the sale of all available sizes of products. At the same time, new deliveries to the Ukrainian market last week were carried out in minimal volumes. Thus, since the beginning of March, there has been a shortage of tomatoes, which allowed importers to raise prices.
It is noted that starting next week, Ukraine is expecting an increase in tomato supplies from Turkey, which will help balance the market and, accordingly, stabilize prices.
Let us recall that the rise in potato prices observed on the Ukrainian market at the end of winter stopped in March, which was caused by a decline in trading activity in this segment.
