What Ukrainians spend the most money on: data from the State Statistics Service

Ukrainians spend half of their money on food.

Consumer inflation in Ukraine has accelerated, and accordingly, citizens' expenses have also increased.

This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service.

According to the statistics agency, the largest share of expenses is made up of food and non-alcoholic beverages – 40%.

In particular, meat and meat products account for 9.6%, milk, cottage cheese and eggs – 5.7%, vegetables – 2.8%, bread – 2.7%, fish and fish products – 2.5%.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and other types of fuel account for 9.8% of expenses.
Ukrainians spend 9.6% on transport. Healthcare costs 9.4% (including medicines – 6.4%).

Ukrainians spend 4.0% on alcohol and 3.9% on cigarettes. Household items, appliances and current housing maintenance account for 4.6%, various goods and services – 4.3%, recreation and culture – 3.7%, communications – 3.0%, restaurants and hotels – 2.8%, education – 1.3%.

Earlier, the NBU reported that inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 13.4% year-on-year, while in monthly terms prices rose by 0.8%.

According to NBU forecasts, inflation will not begin to decline before spring 2025. As the head of the National Bank Andriy Pyshnyi stated, price pressure will persist in the coming months due to high food prices. By the end of 2025, inflation will slow to 6.9% and return to the target of 5% in 2026.
