Carrots are getting cheaper in Ukraine: farmers are selling off their stocks

The price reduction is caused by a large supply of substandard products, which quickly lose quality due to the warm winter.

This week, the Ukrainian carrot market has seen a decline in prices.

According to EastFruit, farmers have begun to sell stocks from storage facilities more actively, which was the main reason for the price drop.

So far, carrots are being sold at a price 10% cheaper than at the end of last week. The cost of the root crop fluctuates between 25-32 UAH/kg ($0.60-0.77/kg).

The price reduction is caused by a large supply of substandard products, which quickly lose quality due to the warm winter. Therefore, small farms are forced to sell their stocks. At the same time, producers of quality carrots, who have no problems with storage, have temporarily suspended sales, waiting for better prices.

Despite the decline in cost, current carrot prices are still three times higher than in March 2024. However, market participants do not rule out further price reduction due to the low level of trading activity.

Let us recall that this week, the greenhouse tomato market in Ukraine saw an increase in upward price trends.
