Polish carriers do not plan to end the blockade of the border with Ukraine for the holidays

Польські перевізники не планують припиняти блокаду кордону з Україною на свята

Polish carriers blocking three checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border will not end the blockade over the holidays.

The organizer of the carrier strike in Doroguska, Edita Ozygala, announced this after a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Poland Dariusz Klimczak in Doroguska on Saturday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to her, the protesters will spend the holidays at the border blockade and have already drawn up a corresponding duty schedule.

“Until we reach a real consensus, we will continue to be here,” Ozygala said.

In turn, Minister Klimchak noted that in order to solve the problem at the border, it is necessary to reconsider the trade agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

“On our part there is a firm conclusion that we must correct and change the current trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine. The Ukrainian side has finally agreed to negotiations on this topic. There was no such agreement before,” Klimchak noted.

The Polish minister noted that he received information about the readiness to create a working group with Ukraine that will analyze the agreement the night before. Therefore, he wants to get this working group up and running as soon as possible.

Klimczak stressed that the provisions of the agreement between Ukraine and the EU are very general, so this led to the fact that Polish carriers were forced out of the market and lost orders.

“This requires detailed consideration,” the minister emphasized.

As reported, on November 6, Polish carriers began blocking truck traffic near the three largest checkpoints on the border with Ukraine: Korcheva – Krakovets, Grebnoye – Rava-Russkaya, Dorogusk – Yagodin.

Among the main demands is the return of the practice of permits for Ukrainian carriers, abolished by the agreement with the European Union until June 30, 2024.

As it became known, Polish farmers, from Sunday, December 24, will suspend the blockade of truck traffic near the Medika-Shegini checkpoint until January 2-3.
