Trading volume on crypto exchanges exceeded $1 trillion for the first time in 15 months

The fall of the cryptocurrency market in 2022 and 2023 significantly reduced trading volumes in the cryptocurrency markets, but in December the figure exceeded $1 trillion for the first time in 15 months. The Block writes about this.

In December, a deal was concluded on spot cryptocurrency exchanges transactions worth $1.1 trillion.

As noted by The Block, the figure of $1 trillion was previously reported by the industry only in September 2022, when traders entered into agreements for $1.03 trillion. At the same time, trading volume was the highest since May 2022, when the figure was $1.35 trillion.

Binance remains the leading cryptocurrency exchange – trading volume on the spot platform amounted to $432.7 billion, or a share of 39.3 % of total trading volume. In second place was the Upbit exchange ($91.8 billion or 8.3%), and the OKX exchange closed the top three ($87.5 billion or 8%).

In 2021, the total trading volume on spot cryptocurrency market reached $4 trillion.
