This decision means extending the closure of the border with Russia for another two months. Previously, the closure lasted for a month.

“The closure of the border is explained by the fact that Russia is sending migrants to the country with the intention of putting pressure on Finland,” the message says.

Remember

In November 2023, Finland temporarily closed nine checkpoints on the border with Russia. Then Helsinki connected this with the influx of refugees from Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and Syria and blamed the Russian authorities for everything.
